Neelima Chu, MD, FACE - Sharp Rees-Stealy La Mesa

Dr Chu, not only is the BEST endocrinologist but the warmest doctor you want by your side. She is a cheerleader. Follows up and asks about your family and life. Pinpoints how you can be better by giving you concrete examples and charting your progress.. Diabetes is very intense. Dr. Chu takes the stigma away from the disease and honors your fight against it positively. Her warmth and caring is unlike any doctor I have seen before.

Dr. Chu is the ultimate example of an excellent doctor. I have never felt so genuinely cared for. She is endlessly knowledgeable and it’s clear that she has a sincere passion for her work. She is never too busy to listen, address concerns, answer questions and find a solution. She’s sharp and aggressive in her treatment approach, yet kind and gentle in her demeanor. Not to mention, she has such a great sense of humor. Can’t say thank you enough for helping me navigate everything, Dr. Chu!

I typically would not leave a review after just one office visit, but Dr. Chu is simply amazing thus far. I have been a loyal, dedicated patient to the Sharp Rees-Stealy Group since arriving in San Diego. I feel blessed to have Dr. Yarborough as my GP and now Dr. Chu as my Endocrinologist. I arrived early bc I do have a tendency to get lost after 13 years in San Diego. The commute to Grossmont was easy from my home in Mission Hills. The parking lot and elevators can be confusing but, "hey welcome to california"... I never have been fond of the roadways nor engineering of this state, but its what do we do for this sunshine? Anyhow, she took me in early. After a thorough review of my medical records with Dr. Yarborough she reviewed my charts with me in great detail. She took the time to put together a plan to lower my A1c, and help fix a few other metrics that need to be addressed. She was able to explain, "in normal people talk" how to change and alter certain variables to assist in making this come to fruition. She also explained in great detail the concerns I had about obtaining an insulin pump and a CGM from a more reliable company. I was trying to obtain it on my own from the actual companies, which in part was extremely draining and did not work out. I feel comfortable with the timeliness that the "PUMP" specialists and the required training from Sharp will deliver. Diabetes is not as easy "as avoiding sugar". There are a myriad of variables and with my own analytical background and wherewithal, I feel confident I have met the team who will allow me to succeed in managing my T1D and allow me to thrive, instead of simply surviving. I look forward to a continued relationship. I also forgot to add that her bedside manner and personality is so warm and genuine. It's hard for me to laugh sometimes but I truly left laughing and felt like I just had lunch with a friend.
