This review might sound fake but I can assure you this is my story, and it is 100% REAL. Last year, I lost my ability to walk. I went from a (semi) healthy 30 year old, to having to install hand railing in my house and using mobility devices just to get to the bathroom. I’d sit in bed and debate how important the task I needed to do was, because I knew once I put pressure on my body the pain would surge through me like lightning.. I was having stroke-like symptoms, lost ability to move my leg, along with a slew of other symptoms and was in 10/10 pain with a symptom I described as “fire skin.” It felt like the inside of my skin was on fire, all of the time. I’d wake up in tears everyday because of the pain. I lived in my bed, and hospital beds for MONTHS. I had 7 doctors, and a whole team at UT that couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me (this is not a slam at UT, I believe they really and truly were trying their best.) I was admitted to the hospital more times in a 3 month period than I have EVER been, and they would just admit me for pain management because, essentially, they didn’t know what to do with me. They didn’t know why I was in so much pain, why I couldn’t walk, they couldn’t figure out what was wrong based on the tests they were doing. Then, I was absolutely BLESSED with meeting Dr. Oubre. He was sure of what was going on with me right off the bat. Fast forward to honestly just a few weeks later, I was walking again!! After a month or maybe 6 weeks, I no longer had to use mobility devices, ALL of my symptoms had subsided. I will never forget after one of my first treatments with them, I called my Mom the next morning because it was the first day I hadn’t woken up from pain in months.. I truly believe Dr. Oubre & Cerise saved my life. I was in such a horrible state, with no other doctors able to figure out what was going on. Today, my quality of life has improved significantly. I was able to work out for a full 30 mins the other day. Something I couldn’t have even dreamt about last year. I am beyond grateful for Dr. Oubre & the team. If you are contemplating whether to see him or not, if it will be “worth” it or not.. This is your sign. Hands down Oubre Medical is the best, most caring and EDUCATED team I’ve ever worked with. Also have to shout out Lara, Shanna & Arlinda for honestly just also being the best, because they are! If you start seeing the team… You’ll see what I mean! 🥰 Thank you, Oubre Medical.. For giving me my quality of life back.. I can’t wait to see where we’re at, next year! I love you guys and I’m forever grateful for all of y’all.
If anyone is struggling trying to figure out what is going on with them medically and not getting complete answers from the medical system as is, this is your guy! I was getting diagnosed with one autoimmune condition followed by the start of others, this MD was able to finally give me an answer and a path forward. A lot of functional health providers and practitioners come from chiropractic backgrounds with very different training. Having an MD was very important to me. 10/10 recommend.
Staff are nice, friendly, however, not fully equipped, not adequately informed regarding most recent research, and disorganized. I was honestly expecting more, something different and I'm so disappointed to have wasted $700+$400 on the initial appointments and labs. There were frequent miscommunications between the operations team and the medical team. I was charged $400 for blood panels that were *exactly* the same as the ones my PCP ordered for my annual last year (which were covered by insurance); despite me asking if Id be tested on anything new as compared to my PCP annual labs-no one bothered to check if there were similarities or differences and I was not able to since I didn't have access to the list of the blood panel ordered by Dr Oubre's office. The initial appointment was about an hour of personal health questions; the same questions as the online forms I had already filled out (i.e, which supplements I'm taking, my activity levels, sleep hygeine, etc), which makes me wonder if the practitioner reviewed my records before our meeting. During the follow up/second appointment I had with the practitioner, it started about 5 minutes late. Then they spent the first 15 minutes asking me questions that I already went over in full detail in the first appointment. I was expecting the second meeting to be a full 60 min review of my lab results and to "...work together to develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs” as stated on their website. It was my impression that the plan would include potential up to date information regarding peptide treatments to address/assist w/ gut treatment/diet and nutrition plan as discussed in my initial discovery meeting...and as shown on the website. The recommendation for nutrition was generic and not quantifiable, for ex., "....add extra dark leafy greens, eat more fermented foods and drink more water." These are diet adaptations I adopted a long time ago. On another note, as per the "discovery call" I was expecting access and information re: peptide treatment, i.e. NAD+ IV loading dose protocols, HRT protocols that follow the current EBP offerings/research of other functional medicine MD’s around the country and in Austin. However, when I inquired after my appointments I was told they only offer a low dose NAD-IV once a week (which is not a loading dose). Either way, I received no follow up regarding starting a loading dose of either. Lastly, the protocol I was provided is similar and costly, down to the exact same supplements (10-15x supps), to another FNP I went to in 2021 which provided good results, but did not get to the bottom of my issues. All but two of the supplements I have in my pantry and am already using. I was not interested in buying more supplements; that is what I had tried extensively for years among a very long list of other strategies. I requested a refund due to the fact that the services I purchased were not as advertised, however, a refund was denied.
