I came to Wellest for my 3-year-old son, who was born with a rare disease affecting his colon’s motility. At the time, we were going through an incredibly difficult period - he needed daily enemas just to pass gas and stool. We had seen many healthcare professionals along the way, and after everything he endured, my son was understandably wary of doctors and often refused to get up on exam tables. Melissa was absolutely incredible with him - she created a calm, welcoming environment and even brought toys to keep him entertained while providing pelvic floor therapy. She’s highly skilled and genuine - she's truly invested in my son’s well-being. Since any touch to his stomach was uncomfortable, Melissa took the time to build trust and help him feel safe. My son looked forward to his sessions with her (and the toy firetruck!), and my husband and I gained tools to support his digestive health at home. My son has now “graduated” from pelvic floor PT and hasn’t needed enemas in months. It’s been life changing! His confidence has grown so much, and he now independently uses the potty - a huge milestone for children with his condition. Throughout our time at Wellest, Melissa also collaborated with the rest of my son’s care team, which was so helpful given all the moving parts.
