My Path Medical: Katherine Lantsman, MD

i’ve seen multiple doctors at mass general hospital. i’ve seen multiple rheumatologists as well as other doctors who dismissed my pain and my symptoms because it didn’t align with what they believed. it didn’t matter how much research i brought in, it didn’t matter how much i pleaded for help or how much worse i got. Dr Lantsman believed me and put so much effort into helping me. she finally found i have Babesiosis. if it weren’t for her, i would continue to be in agony maybe even for the rest of my life. i haven’t started treatment just yet, but i already feel like she has saved my life. there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel for me. Dr Katherine Lantsman is an amazing doctor but most importantly an amazing person who listens and cares. which is hard to find in a doctor these days.

I came to Dr. Lantsman at probably the lowest point in my life, desperately ill and in need of a doctor who would listen and dig to figure out the root of my health issues. She is absolutely incredible, compassionate, kind, sharp, and astute at deciphering even murky medical problems that other providers write off with nothing more than an eye-roll. I wish I could, as the kids say, "gatekeep" Dr. Lantsman, but she is too valuable to the world to keep to myself. I will be forever grateful for her care as she turned me toward healing when I needed it most.

Dr. Katherine Lantsman is the most knowledgeable doctor I have ever met. I have been a patient of hers since September, 2023. For about a year and a half I had awful pain on the right side of my abdomen, under my ribs and in my lower back. It was all very tender to the touch. Due to the pain, I had trouble sleeping. I also had pain when I went to sit down and when I got up. The only somewhat comfortable position was standing up. I was diagnosed with allergies roughly five years ago; nuts, seeds, shellfish and bees. I was also unable to process red meat. If I ate it, I would be dizzy and have intestinal issues...all immediately after eating. I was doubled over in pain as soon as I ate. I honestly felt like I was going to die. Before coming to Dr. Lantsman, I had an endoscopy, colonoscopy, ultrasounds, MRI'S, CT scans, fibroscan and basic blood work. I was told it was all muscular skeletal and I was referred to a physical therapist which didn't help at all. I was taking about ten antacids a day which didn't help. Of all the doctors I saw, nobody took the time to really listen to me. Thankfully I was referred to Dr. Lantsman by a family friend. The first visit with her was unbelievably remarkable. I wasn't rushed and she actually listened to me; unlike previous doctors. She was full of compassion and made me feel very comfortable. I left her office feeling like I had finally found a doctor that was going to take the time to help me. Dr. Lantsman discussed various things with me; instead of just telling me what to do. After the very first visit, Dr. Lantsman already had ideas of what was wrong with me and sent me home with a protocol in place. Her and Daniela; the Patient Care Coordinator are both extremely organized and return emails promptly. I actually look forward to my appointments with Dr. Lantsman; not many people can probably say they look forward to a doctor appointment. I am not 100 % perfect, but I am now on the road to recovery. Dr. Lantsman is the most sympathetic and patient doctor I have ever met. She basically saved my life. Without Dr. Lantsman's diagnosis and care, I don't know where I would be today. My family and I will be forever grateful.
