I waited too long to get my hormones screened. I thought that I could push through the hard that menopause is because I've always been lead to believe that you just need to suck it up at such times. My anxiety was slowly starting to affect my personal and professional lives. I couldn't function properly in work meetings, was often irrational and emotional about things that didn't warrant such responses. My sex drive was almost non-existent which lead to friction with my husband. I would often be short with my children about small matters that really didn't matter. My real wake up call was when I signed up for a powerlifting meet and completely failed lifts that I've done easily in the past. Mentally and physically, I was going downhill faster than I would have ever realized. Prior to going to Med Studio I visited 2 other doctors to discuss my symptoms. I got a mixture of "suck it up" and "nothing is wrong" messages from both of them. Funny enough both of them were older women that were in full menopause. When I visited Med Studio I had told myself this was for the last time, if they labeled me as "normal" then I would just accept it as such and continue my downward spiral. Thankfully the exact opposite happened. My symptoms were validated and a solid plan was put in place. Since starting therapy, I've added 72 lbs to my back squat and have gained roughly 3.5lbs of lean body mass in 3 months (which is no small feat for a perimenopausal woman). My body composition and look has changed in ways that I could never imagine. My hair has changed texture and no longer falls out in handfuls on my bathroom floor. I am a happier mom with more energy to be the mom that my kids deserve. My sex life is amazing now, instead of scheduling sex like a chore we have to schedule in rest days so we can catch up on our sleep. I had one person ask me what is my exit plan for therapy, that I still need to embrace the suck and go through menopause like a champ. My answer will always be the same: I'm in this until I run out of money or when I'm dead. Total game changer and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to receive this type of treatment.
